Hardy Kiwi Leaves Edible For Rabbit?

I have a Hardy Kiwi that makes leaves but not fruit.
Oh, well I have plenty of other plants to deal with, and at least it makes shade for the compost run.

That said, my wife accidentally grabbed some for her boyfriend,our Rex bunny, El-ahrairah.
Before she gave it to him she realized it was not mulberry, which is the other thing shading the chicken's composting yard.

A quick Google says the leaves are edible for humans.
I chewed one, it wasnt great and my mouth feels funny.
Google is unclear on feeding it to bunnies.

Does anyone here regularly feed their bunny Hardy Kiwi?
This boy is a 10 year old pampered and adored pet.
My wife is rather fond of him, notice I've chewed one leaf, but he has has had none!

I do not know whether rabbits can or cannot eat the leaves, but I do know that hardy kiwis have both male and female plants. Since you mention "a" hard kiwi... that might be why its only producing leaves.

I wondered about that, but I also get no flowers.

Well, there is that possibility :)

But according to the Internet, if a hard kiwi is less than 3 years old it may not flower. Also, apparently, if it doesn't like the soil, amount of water, or amount of sunlight, it also might not flower.

***Edit - apparently there are some self pollinating varieties, but most have male and female plants.

We have two female and one male kiwis (lucky guy), but no flowers yet.  I’ve read that it may take 5-7 years for that to happen, so don’t give up yet!

I cut some more growth off and fed to rabbits. Does anyone know the protein content of kiwi leaves?
