I tend to feed most chickens lots of things but beans are giving me a slight pause.

I have a whole feed bucket full of beans that got buggy and we no longer eat beans ourselves.

Can I cook for my chickens?
Should I be wary of how much at a time?

Don't have a pig right now or it would get them.

Sure. I don't see a problem as long as there's other stuff they can eat.
Buggy or not, there's not a problem for chickens. They might prefer the buggy bits.

Oh yeah, the bugs will be the best bits!

From the question, you suggest this is an unfamiliar food for your chickens. I would only cook and offer small amounts the first couple of times. Once they decide it's good food, they'll be happy to eat more.

A friend gave me some corn on the cob which had actually started sprouting. Those chickens have never had corn on the cob. Two hours later, it was still sitting there. I expect that will change soon enough. In contrast, if I showed up with Russian Kale, it would be gone in less than 5 minutes! They know Kale and know they love it!

Oh so true.
My rabbits are the same way.
I say they are like toddlers - offer a little, offer often.

I wasn't super clear in my post. Feeding beans to chickens was unfamiliar to ME. LOL. I have fed them all kinds of things but I was leery about the beans.
I'll do it a little at a time.
