I'm 53 years old, single and no children.  I've been researching, planning and preparing for an the off-grid dream.

I come from a family of farmers.  While I have a formal education, I'm a hard-worker, enthusiastic, think outside-the-box, and am positive there is always a solution.

I've been reading alot about chickens, building structures, tools and equipment, survival and security.  I was a mechanic in the Navy, am an attorney and was most recently working in environmental (and health and safety) regulatory work.  I care about the environment but am not a tree hugger.  I am all about sustainability, but we do have to live in this world.  I am great with a shotgun (sporting hobby) but want to learn about rifles.

I have experience living off-grid mountain in Northern CA for a year.  No electricity.  Used potbelly stove for heat during winter.  I loved it.

I don't have any "baggage."  I am fun to be around, but enjoy solitude as well.  I'm looking for someone or a couple to explore off-grid living.  It would be nice to support one another and share chores.  An established site is okay as well.  I prefer the middle to northern U.S. - mostly for safety and clean water (also bc I lived in TX for decades and am done with fire ants, cockroaches and alligators - haha).

As far as timeliness?  I'm ready now, but I am presently looking for land.

So happy to have found this site.  My first post.
May everyone be blessed with positive experiences!

Christine

Hello Christine, I think we may be heading in the same direction. I have a recent post describing my homestead and a few pictures. The post reads “50M in Southern NJ seeking homestead partner” As for your post, it comes across that we share in many interests. Check out my post and see if you pick up the same vibes:)

Will do, Matt.  I believe I looked.  The only negative is that NJ taxes are high.

Feel free to email and maybe we can chat.

Hi Christine,
I am part of a small group which is looking to buy some land in Upper Midwest (Wisconsin / Minnesota) or Upstate New York. The goal is to create an off-grid ecovillage. We are looking for folks to partner with us: ideally, folks who want to grow food on some of the land, we have room if someone wants to also be a founding buyer, or even just be part of our "brain-trust" (we can always use more brains). Would you be interested? Maybe we can trade messages (moosages)?
Tim

Morning sunshine!
Hi Christine, I'm John, I'll be 57 this year. Your intro and dreams and desires appear to be similar to mine. I just purchased some land in Hampshire County, WV. on top of a ridge line, with outstanding views, and 5x5 cell service, lol. I hope to hear from you.
Respectfully,
Back Woodsman
