Hi all,
I have an ibc tote that has a ball valve style outlet. The handle broke, and now we can not close off the tote. I would like to replace the handle, or the valve. Here's my dilemma, I can not find my style valve anywhere to see how it can be removed. Are there places that are permanent on these things? Have any of you successfully repaired/replaced  a ball style valve? I've tried to unscrew it with a strap wrench, and that puppy didn't budge an inch. It really doesn't look like it is removable to me, but I thought I'd reach to some folks that are smarter to see if maybe I missed something.  I've attached some.pics.of the valve from thunder side and side view. What do y'all think?

Welcome, Amanda.

IBC totes don't seem to have a consistent standard for threads or valve types. I have older and newer ones, and nothing matches up. This is utterly silly -- but so it goes.

When the valve on one tank seized open, I was able to thread in a hardware store fitting to the outlet and attach a cheap sump pump hose. I just keep the hose above the water level until I want to drain the tank. Clunky but functional.

EDIT: Can you show us the valve handle part? If the valve still turns and seals, surely some sort of handle can be rigged.

It looks like the whole ball part can be screwed loose and replaced. Having said that i've done similar as mentioned and installed a store bought device for a hose pipe with a little valve added with a handle that closes with a move to one side. This bypasses the use of that wickedly heavy going valve of bad quality uv absorbing plastic that becomes brittle they come with.
