Question:
Do you think that DQ "ice cream" or McDonald's french fries are worse for your health? and why?

Details:
This question comes about from two particular circumstances. I used to get the DQ ice cream cake for my kids' birthdays. Until one year, I accidentally left a container of left-over cake on the counter for a day and a half. When I opened it, it looked just like when I had put it in. No melting at all. I then remember how often DQ lists things as "dairy treats" and not "ice cream". I then went and read the ingredients... and now I get Coldstone Creamery cakes instead. (I know, its still lots of sugar, but better is still better, while not being perfect).

The second was more recent. Due to stuff I'm not going to post here, I have a lot of stress in my life. I eat when I am stressed, and I tend to eat badly. The other night, I was about to go to DQ for a blizzard, when I stopped myself because that is not healthy. I also told myself to get some french fries from McDonalds because they are healthier... potatoes are healthier than ice cream right? But then I got thinking about the pesticides used, and the vegetable oils used, and who knows what kind of preservatives. And I started to question whether they really are any healthier than DQ "ice cream". So I thought I would take a poll and find out your opinion :)

These days I discovered a test to find out if it's food or "food".  Feed it to my chickens.

There are some "foods" I adore like cheerios or fast food fries that the chickens won't touch.  They taste it, spit it out, look at me accusingly for teasing them, and walk away in a huff.  Those things I stopped buying because chickens will eat anything so long as it's food.

What could be in it if the garbage cans of the yard won't eat it?

I haven't tried either option on my chooks yet.

I think if they were "chips" UK rather than "fries" that the potato based stuff could be classified as food.

Traditionally twice fried in lard....

Well, an organically grown potato in healthy soil, cut into small pieces and fried in a healthy animal fat... really isn't too bad health wise except the carbs.

As proud as I am of my state... we are known for spraying REALLY nasty stuff on our potatoes.

Tough call.   I figure that, for the most part, potatoes are in the potatoes. I have no idea what is in the pretend ice cream.

To (mis)quote the late great Douglas Adams: food "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike" a potato.
