My neighbor has some root damage to his driveway entrance. Since he is retired with 3 pensions (according to him) he is going to demo the entire drive and parking pad. It is approximately 175'x12' or 2,100 sqft. I am not sure what equipment the company he hired is bringing to demo the slab but if they get it small enough, I was going to offer to take it for the cost of the dump fees. The dump is 20 mins one way so judging by the smile his tree man gave me when I took all of his Oak trees he cut down and processed into firewood, I should be able to work that out.

I was thinking borders for guilds/garden patches, ditch liners, culvert wall liners, rocket mass heater...mass, cob stove base material. I imagine I will need to break it up into the size I want. I have an electric SDS hammer drill and a sledge hammer. I have 5 kids so for 15 or 30 min a day, we can call it the homeschool class of "going to the clink prevention".

I am in MS. Some concerns would be snakes but we have all manner of snakes already so I am not sure that matters. That was the only negative I could come up with. I have a 300' fence line where I store all my building materials and firewood so I have the location for it.

Any ideas on pro/cons? other usage ideas? Is this a bad idea?

Thank you Permie Community for your wealth of knowledge.

Perhaps consider having it broken to manageable sizes say 12 inches x 12 inches prior to being dumped and or get onto the ripped concrete and hit it with a sledge hammer in the right place to get your sizing.

Thanks, John. I think I'll watch them to see what equipment they bring. It should be evident what size pieces they will get it down to.

There were millions of the little blood suckers. But thanks to this tiny ad, I wasn't bitten once.
