I have family in the far North. During a recent visit we talked about creative food storage and cooking.
One takeaway: a potato that is frozen solid can be salvaged if you do it right. If you allow it to thaw, it will turn to mush. But it you toss it directly in a pot of vigorously boiling water, it will cook up just fine. You'll never know the difference.
I need to try this.
