It's been 15 years since I had cable TV and got by with the occasional DVD from the library.  I don't miss it much, except I feel disjointed from pop culture.

A friend of mine is doing a month long Dopamine Detox (Internet Vacation) and with ways and stuff, his Fire TV is hooked up at my place for a month.

I watch the Wheel of Time (disappointment how far from the books it wanders) and Good Omens (So wonderful!).  And now I'm lost because we kind of have to know what we want to watch in order to watch.  I expected like cable where would just schedule our lives around the shows and watch what we are told.

I'm also surprised on how few classic films (kurosawa, monty python, etc) are available.

So... what do I watch?  This opportunity to finally catch up on the 21st century for a few weeks, and I'm lost.

(only restrictions is I can't do anything that would charge to his account so it has to be free on Prime Canada, he doesn't want any apps downloaded.)

I guess it's not a bad time of year for that. If there are a couple of days where the weather is atrocious you can binge-watch something.

I looked at this site for a list (hope it's up to date): https://reelgood.com/ca/source/amazon_prime_free

Personally I would look at some of the sci-fi type stuff like The Expanse, Z Nation, Silo. Maybe Gangs of London.

But of course I haven't seen them -- I'm waiting for them on discarded DVDs at the recycling centre.

Sorry can't help with what to watch on Prime but you may wish to check out the selection of films on Beamafilm.

It's a free streaming service that you only need a library subscription to sign up to.

It has a huge selection of international films -  Japanese, Korean, Indian, Australian, French, Italian etc documentaries, tv series.

I may have mentioned Beamafilm before when you were asking about Bollywood dance movies?

Not as much fun as I had hoped.  I only have about an hour a day to watch at most.
Trying to figure out what to watch takes up way too much time.

Good Omens 2 suffered from not having terry pratchet and it felt like if he had been part of the team, the entire season's plot would have been episode one and it would be a lot less romantic.

Wheel of time got slightly better with season two even if they did kill off someone who is a major player later in the series.  weird.  I think they gave up on the books and are just basing the plot on the wiki page.

Looking forward to trying Silo next as this might be related to the Hugh Howey books I read ages ago.

I don't know... I guess I'm just really glad this isn't my money paying for it.  Kind of looking forward to my friend getting bored of his internet vacation so he can take it back.
