Java Error when giving pie?

I gave(?) pie to this post https://permies.com/p/2847573 and on 1/4/2024 20:08 Mountain Time got the below error message.
I refreshed the page and it does appear that my slice was delivered to the post, but I'm not sure the cause for the error.
Was the message I typed too long? (kinda seems like that might be what the machine is telling me with RequestCharacterEncodingFilter?)

Further, when I go to: https://permies.com/pie#my that post does not show up, rather the last one I gave last month (see screenshot) even after multiple refreshes of that page.
Was my account not debited appropriately?

I think a major concern is that I'd really like the information I tried to send in this latest slice to actually make it to the intended recipient. I'm happy to do that via PM, email, text, or smoke signal - probably will follow up just in case.

But my biggest concern is that there's something amiss with the forum software causing pie related transfer problems.

I checked both yours and Stephen's pie logs, and--though there is an icon on the post you tried to give pie to--there is no pie taken from your account, and no pie given to his account.  

Oddly enough, though, permies did send him an email saying he'd received pie from you...even though no pie was received.

All of that might also be in the code you so perfectly posted. But, I can't read code. Hopefully, Devaka or someone else will be along to interpret the magical code and fix what has been broken.

(I can confirm, though, that taking too long to type a pie message can cause an error. When that has happened to me, it just didn't send pie. Oddly enough, I've been able to send long pie messages as long as I don't take a long time composing them!)

Ha! I just tried sending a ridiculously long pie message, and got the screenshotted error below.

For the record, this was my hillarously long pie message, that I copied and pasted into the pie message box-thingy:

I am going to compose a super long message to go along with this tasty piece of pie. I want to thank you for your detailed reporting. Also, I want to test that I can send a stupidly long message if I just paste it into the pie message thingy.

I betcha this was the cause for me - I looked something up mid typing because I wasn't sure if I'd spelled a word correctly lol

Fascinating, I also received the email and no text was cutoff!

And, just like with your error, there is now pie showing on your post, but no pie removed from my account, nor pie added to your account.

I'm glad I could help. I might not be good at understanding code, but I can test things and often find out where the break is.

Hopefully it'll be a quick development fix to make it so that either the pie goes all the way through, or it doesn't go at all. We don't need any confusing, half-sent pie!
