Hi,
I am new to this subject and I would be interested in knowing what data are available so far about using HK in semi-arid environments
I found a thread here on this, but it is 13 years old! So I wonder if there are more specific data now, on water consumption, productivity and other parameters/indicators
compared to other growing methodologies in the semi-arid climate
I wonder if anybody is aware of any academic research evaluating these indicators over a period of time of a few years.

It's a long list of links to current hugel posts. Lots of new stuff.
I have no data, only my personal anecdotes. In my little garden adding rotten logs and wood and sticks has helped the soil quality a lot. I bury them 2-3 feet deep and leave them for a year or two, then dig them up and mix it all in with the soil. A little different from what you see in other Hugels, no giant mound, but it works for me.
