Hello fellow Permies,

Winter isn't my favourite season. I'd rather hibernate until the spring sun, flowers and birds wake me up and I can bathe in golden sunlight. Yes.
But in January, what does a person do to kickstart one's own engine in order to get things done?

I've always found that writing gratitude lists is great medicine against the winter blues, or any kind of blues for that matter.

Then I saw an interesting idea online about a gratitude jar (photo attached), but I don't think it would work for me personally, since we're renovating and I wouldn't know where to keep such a jar.
But I do keep a physical agenda, which doubles as a journal.

So this is what I do now:
Every day I make a point of drawing a smiley and write the thing I'm grateful for that day after it. Some days have rows of smileys, others just one.
It's surprising and very nourishing to leaf through the agenda backwards, seeing all the smileys and reading what they stand for - an avalanche of joy!

What is your go-to remedy to heal any kind of blues?

I find pouring over seed catalogs fun and my #1 fuel to help me stay off the winter boredom.

Garden planning is also fun.

#2 is reading the forum and learning all the new info that folks post.
