I think I'm posting this correctly - ran into an issue posting a reply to the Potato Onions thread. I was replying to T***thy, but his name contains the letters "I" "M" and "O". I received a message saying I couldn't post a message containing abbreviations, noting the common "in my opinion" abbreviation.

Looks like we have a runaway algorithm (oh no!)

Can verify this was the issue as the message posted fine when I replied to him as "Tim"

weirdness.  That should only be applying when it's a stand alone word.

I will look and see what's happening.

not as simple a fix as I hoped.

I've sent out a call to someone who knows how to fix it.  I don't know his time zone so it might be a while for him to see it.

Thanks for reporting it.

No worries - first time I've encountered it and, being a "coder" myself, knew it needed reporting. For every one person that reports, who knows how many hundreds saw it and went "Stupid Site! I didn't want to post anyway! Meh!" (then clicks away to facespace or whatever the kids are using these days)

Can you test it now?

Our local super hero pressed some buttons.

No problem - testing a post with the name Timothy to ensure the "I", "M" and "O" get through when used within a word. Also attaching successful test of the actual abbreviation being caught :)
