It kinda goes like this: we cobble together an offer and throw it out there and then maybe two people take us up on the offer. Then we cobble together another offer, and botch part of it, but nobody says anything, so we just think nobody cares, so, oh well ...
We don't even look at gumroad stuff.
So this time, we cobbled together an offer, botched it, fixed it, and some people liked it. Neat!
Keep in mind, that the staff would far prefer to talk about permaculture than do this fiddly stuff about selling our stuff. So when somebody brings up gumroad stuff, it starts off with "who has the keys to our gumroad stuff?" and then there is oodles of conversations between people about whether we should do anything, let alone what to do.
For example: the price at gumroad, right now, should be $37.50. Because the regular price on permies is $24.95. A bit of math ...
gumroad fee $3.75
processing fee $1.31
VAT $9.37
total fees: $14.43
net to permies: $37.50 - $14.43 = $23.07
So when you say it is $20, then it sparks a lot of talk about "anybody know why it is set to $20 and not $37.50?"
And then comes the whole thing about how some people have already bought it at the current price. If we dropped the price, then wouldn't it be screwing those guys?
At the same time, somebody said "can we get a download option on gumroad" and THAT has sparked a lot of talk.
This is a long winded way of saying that in a week or two we will see where the chips lay. :)
It is possible that somebody will take the time to sort this all out, right as rain. And it is also possible that hours of talk will lead to a dead end.
If all of the gumroad work added up to pizza money, then we might put more effort in there. But so far it is barely touching "coffee money." Of course, it would be terrific if it added up to something like "rent money"!
(and I haven't logged in to the gumroad stuff for years, so I would have to go on a massive password hunt to do it myself)
