Hi all,

I cant find my copy of Ianto's book so ill ask here. In "The Hand-Sculpted House" he mentions a company that makes a type of chimney attachment that actually increases the draw in the presence of wind. Can anybody remind me the name of that company or of a company that makes such a thing?

Hello Karl,
your name sounds very German to me. Perhaps you really know German and can read this: http://www1.westfalia.de/shops/rund_ums_haus/schornsteintechnik/schornsteinaufsaetze/kaminaufsaetze_windkat/279501-edelstahl_kaminaufsaetze.htm
Please tell me your opinion.
regards
Peter

I bought from this company before, no problems, but not affiliated blah blah blah. It was just a saved link I could find quick.

Hi Peter..i speak zero German:s ..but its been the family name for many generations..
I´ve seen something like this from the UK-based company "Wind Kat", this company has a much better price though.

R Scott, this link is very interesting, thank you for that

Another thing...i was mistaken, it wasnt from "the Hand-Sculpted House," it came from Ianto´s Rocket Stove book..

Yes the price is high. But what looks good to me is that there are no movable parts in it. It should work independent from the mounting direction, e.g. mounted horizontally like on the exhaust of a rocket mass heater without vertical chimney.

Not a chimney top mount, but this is a new product that uses a downdraft retrofit and has won innovation awards.
