Keratin-rich foods like gelatin (preferable grass fed), eggs, dark leafy greens, chicken skins (yup - bake up some chicken and eat those skins, with the meat!), cold-water fish, red meats, butter, bone broth (good quality bone broth will be high in gelatin), avocados... are all good for hair, skin, & nails. A good quality hair, skin, & nails supplement (in addition to eating the above) can give a nice boost, too. I've heard of (but not tried) brushing a thin/liquid gelatin directly on the nails can help, but I have dogs that would pick it right back off, sooo...
As far as the gelatin, there are loads of ways to get that into your diet, but the best stuff won't be the flavored, sugary (or worse yet, artificially sweetened) kind that comes in boxes from the store. The best quality is going to be in bulk bags (it's usually 4oz or more) of unflavored, grass-fed beef gelatin. It can be added to almost anything, as long as it's stirred in, well. So, smoothies, coffee, soups, stews, gravy, desserts (pie fillings, homemade ice cream, jam, homemade 'jello', pretty much whatever you like. Two cautions, though; 1 - it tends to be a bit heavier than water, so if you add it to your coffee or tea, either keep a spoon handy to stir it occasionally, or drink it fairly quickly, and 2 - it works great as a thickener, so don't add too much, unless you really like a 'gummie-bear' texture.
