Christian Minister of Permaculture

Gift of Grace Lutheran congregation is developing an intentional, live-in, urban farm community, alongside the worshiping community, to live out Christ’s power to heal the earth and community.  We need a creative,  entrepreneurial, cooperative Christian Minister to provide leadership, especially permaculture teaching, as we develop into a hands-on teaching model for urban permaculture living.  This is not a job but an entrepreneurial type opportunity. We provide a tiny house in which to live and plenty of community support. The pastor has his PDC from Bullock's Permaculture Homestead, Orcas Island, WA.

I have the necessary creditials to marry folks in Texas though I have not taken a PDC so I cannot teach folks about permaculture:

Teaching permaculture design courses, for money, might seem like a fun and easy way to develop your right livelihood but believe us, months and months of background thought, planning and hard work go into designing and implementing a permaculture design course whether it is online, on the land, or some combination.

In the early years of permaculture when spreading the initial idea was critical, successfully completing a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) allowed you to teach PDCs and distribute certificates straight away.

Hi Anne, By all means get your PDC. Not online either. Go to place that teaches on site and hands on. You'll be so happy you did.

It has been a couple of months since I started this thread. I hope to revive interest in it because it is a really exciting and well supported opportunity for someone who is a thinking and dedicated Christian to develop her or his dream urban permaculture teaching platform. There are students in Seattle who want to learn. We want this church to be in the city for good. Permaculture is GOOD!

I am a single guy, and have been off grid since 2014 on my one acre homestead in North East Texas. I began this life after graduating with a Master of Religion from a Reformed Seminary in Dallas. I love the scriptures and teaching them to others, and have over a decade of experience in a few churches, as well as having lived as a missionary in Guatemala a couple of years, building church-based permaculture oprhan homes that were off grid, and used to eliminate dependence on US$ donations to run a normal home for kids, as well as be productive enough to sell surplus to community.

I never wanted to be a "pastor" because it just doesn't fit with my lifestyle, but I've never ceased being a minister of the bible, because I know it holds truth for all people, and enjoy helping them discover it for themselves. Also, I wanted to be free to disagree with whatever denomination/ creed/ etc... as all of those are man-made things, not scripture. I watched all my seminary mates go to churches/ denominations and burn out rapidly, when they realized their income / family & kids / and intellectual honesty DEPENDED on them NOT changing their minds, or learning and growing, from day 1 post-hire. Sad.
