I've found three outstanding uses for that white death in a can better known as vegetable shortening!
1) to season a freshly sanded cast iron pan.
2) apply a heavy coat to the paper label on a glass jar you want to save for reuse, it may take 12 to 24 hours for it to work, but it will soften the glue, just be very careful when washing said jar as it will sure be slippery.
3) perhaps my all time best use in all the world, add a heavy coat to your bird feeder poles and sit back and watch Mr Squirrel try to overcome this new mystery.
Peace
