There's been some sort of IT crash.
All posts from today until the early evening crash disappeared and were just restored,
but the IT support team can't restore posts from post crash, pre-restoration.
If you know what I mean
Sorry people. No-one's posts have been purposefully deleted, I promise!

This particular disappearing post thing was purely an IT issue, with no deleting from us.
Occasionally we will make a post...go away...
But as long as you stick to permies' one and only rule- be nice- you'll be fine

I will do my best. I can be abrasive with subject matter, so if I start to cross the lines of set paramiters just let me know and I will do my best to change tacktics to be less abrasive.
Thanks. have a great day.

We have a loooong thread about how to be nice. It has quite a few details in it about appropriate subject matter and how to disagree with someone without starting a flame war and putting off potential readers.

It used to be that if anything crossed the line it would just disappear, but now we have a new feature which gives the mods a chance to explain what the problem is and the poster a chance to modify the post. It's usually very easy for us to tell who is just not used to the permies way of doing things and who is deliberately out to cause trouble so don't worry if you step over the line a few times so long as you realise that we're trying to keep everyone happily reading and sharing and discussing and generally making the world a better place.

Thanks for the uplink. Good info. Be nice. I like it. Maybe it could be posted to new members to remind them before they begin. I would hate to get banned. I am kind of all over the place. Much of what I have is falling into the becarefull zone. I will be vigilent.
