Hi guys,
I'm really interested in the RMH concept, I'm going to build one at some point in my garage, question though,
Is it possible to make a scaled down model? Almost like a table top sized version (school project kind of thing?)

Scotty Kayem : Welcome to Permies.com, and our sister site richsoil.com, and , a Big Welcome to the Rocket and Wood stoves Forum Threads! As one of our
~21,000~ fellow members World Wide, you can expect to come here 24 / 7, and find a fellow member who wants to talk about what you want to talk about !

Smaller scale models will not work, in fact, our lower limit seems to be held at 4'' and that has proven to be very hard for the D.I.Y. Builder !

Generally our hottest and fastest flowing gases are located at the very center of the tube/tunnel that the gases are flowing through! As we get closer and closer to the interior
walls of our piping that we are trying to flow through- you reach the surface border layer of virtually still air - usually called laminar flow and the laminar boundary- it is easier to
think of it as the Laminar no-flow area. The smaller the piping we start with, the sooner this effect becomes dominate !

Keep coming back, as you have already found the Permies Toolbox near the top of this page, you can always clickon> 'Search' sand enter a Subject in the search engine and
do a Google Search here within Permies (Our own pClould!), or the whole world ! Just a small perk as a member ! Also 24 / 7!

Also every time a new thread is posted, our computer looks for key words and assembles a listing of ''Similar threads'' at the bottom of this Page !

Keep coming Back, and don't forget to check our other Forum Topics, many of us have come here solely to post on the Rocket Mass Heater Threads, and now have many new
friends that we enjoy posting with on many diverse topics ! For the good of the Crafts! Big AL !

If you haven't looked at the RMH book, http://www.rocketstoves.com/ - there is a rocket stove coffee maker design. Small, but enough to heat the water for a cup of coffee. Might be an option to look at.

Scotty Kayem : Logan Jonker is certainly correct, the "Rocket Mass Heater" book available from rocketstoves.com is a Great resource you should strongly consider purchasing as away to save time and money during any future build, however specifically what he is referring to is a Rocket Stove, no thermal mass no horizontal piping and only useful for
boiling water or reheating food for 1 or 2 people !`

The Rocket Stove is a result of an attempt to create a simple cooking only stove that could be made for the 2.4 Billion people who still cook over 3-rock fires that are so bad
that they are always used outdoors weather permitting, and their use indoors is the #1 cause of blindness in the third world ! The original Rocket Stove designs predate the
Rocket Mass Heaters RMHs, and lead to the creation of RMHs! As such they are praise worthy, but not any kind of a Rocket Mass Heater RMH ! I do hope this will clear up any
confusion so that this thread stays on topic ! For the good of the Craft ! Big AL !

I have seen "successful" rocket cookstoves using smaller throats, even a J-tube fed one, but never a rocket mass heater.

Small scale models for fluid dynamics tests have to change the fluid to scale its properties to match.

Story like this gets better after being told a few times. Or maybe it's just a tiny ad:
