Here is Pat Parelli demonstrating his "Passive and Persistent" method :
We have been working very successfully with a difficult , young , and dominant Quarter horse mare for two years with Parellis method and she is becoming very responsive . We have also begun a turn around of a high strung Arabian with some bad habits and that also is going well . This method of developing a relationship with your horse is much safer than other more heavy handed approaches but takes much longer . Other methods such as Clinton Andersons approach still teach the human partner to communicate like a horse but stress the "dominant horse" position more than Parellis . WE have found the heavier handed approaches get a more heavy footed backlash from the horse and should not be used by beginners . Parellis approach allows time for the human to learn what a horse is capable of and to avoid learning how hard and fast a horse can kick . How about all of you ? Any thoughts and experiences with natural horsemanship ?
