The ads i see at the bottom are about Ladakh and the rest of India, so yeah, I think they are based on one's own other searches, not chosen by Permies.

Here's a link to download Adblock. Other than the little red octagon in the upper right hand corner of my screen, I would have no idea it was running. Except that I don't see any ads -- even Monsanto wasting their hoard of cash they get from suing seed savers.
The ads are creepy but I mostly don'tt see them. Advertise as they might, they will never get me to buy glyphosate (roundup), I wouldn't use it if they gave it to me, and I actively discourage any farmers or landowners near me from using it or anything like it.
Go ahead Monsanto, give Paul's empire a fraction of a penny for me!

...so if we use adblock there is no 'fraction of a penny' per ad to the empire? I might not use it then.

I had to disable Adblock+ on this site, because the YouTube links would not work properly for me.
My AB+logo is in the lower left corner of the screen.
If you click it, a pop-up menu appears. You have the option of disabling it on the site you are on.
I don't see how anybody can sanely surf the web without Ad Block+

Definitely!
You know you can even custom level the adds you block. For me, on IE8 (yes i know, but it works wonders with XP) it even takes adverts from youtube!
Sometime i have a little video bug here and there, but, nothing that a right click wouldn't solve. And the best thing is, nobody knows that they're blocked at your comp, so, the money still flows to the site owners :D
