I’m creating this thread to track my progress. I’m working on preserving 1,000,000 calories from local and organic foods.
I’ve created an excel spreadsheet to help me keep track of how many calories are in the things I make most often (according to a Google search. I’ll be sure to post photos of that chart periodically.
I grew up canning and freezing foods in the summer and fall to last us the winter and spring. Living close to my grandparents provided a lot of knowledge and experience that they so graciously shared with me. I hope to keep the tradition of being self sufficient alive through this badge.
Wish me luck!!

These apricots came from a tree at my grandparents house. They’re less than a mile from me and were so kind to share so many apricots with me.
Oops, almost forgot these jars. They were already put away into storage, but I managed to snap a photo Pears from the neighbors tree of course and peaches from the U-pick farm.
This brings me to 36,725 calories total.
