Here is a little photo dump of the progress of my rocket mass heater. It is being installed in a 12x8 cabin. The stratification chamber is below the floor to maximize available floor space. The design includes a priming port to overcome cold plugs.

Feel free to ask questions and leave feedback.

The ceramic board is no doubt a very efficient material to use as a heat riser but it will become very frail and extremely dusty if disturbed  in any way!
The glue with cure rock hard and quite likely give way over time, I would suggest adding some wire around the riser as you most certainly dont want to be handling the stuff once it has been super heated!
You could possibly drop a 8” (or whatever size required) tube over the riser and back fill the voids with loose vermiculite. That would make it more secure and avoid the outsides dusting the atmosphere.
The horizontal part of the chimney exit is not ideal but seems quite high up so should not be a big issue.
The dimensions look good, it should Roar……

Hey Rose, very cool build. Thank you for documenting it here.

Fox, while I agree with you on trying to protect the board to avoid dust, looking at the fotos of the manifold I don’t think there’s enough space to make the riser thicker. So going with the wire might be the only option. The manifold area and area around the riser seems small to me in general (depending on the size of the barrel though).

I'm so happy! And I wish to make this tiny ad happy too:
