I am trying to figure out how to protect my decking in Wales UK from the heavy amounts of rain that we get, to apply most coatings the decking needs to be dry, this is challenging to achieve. I want to choose something with minimal impact on the land and considered quick lime could be the solution, it would allow the decking to be damp when applied. I am just wondering how it holds up and saw the below comment on this forum from 2020.

"As for lime washing, during the Appropriate Technology Course (ATC) at Wheaton labs we applied lime wash to a building with wood siding. It takes several coats but is easy to apply. I'd be interested to hear how that's holding up."

Would anyone know how the limed wood has held up and what were the ingredients?

I'd like to know too. And I'm trying to figure out what to do about exposed decking (with maybe less rain than Wales).

Welcome to Permies, D!
