I walked through my garden today thinking about planting.  I stumbled upon a broad head arrow sticking in the ground.  I have no bow hunters as neighbors.   My big farmer neighbor, that my property is keyholed into, has no hunting signs all over his property due to an unpleasant experience a few years ago. I am concerned.

This time of year, it is not a bowhunter.  It is a poacher.  (unless your state has some really late seasons.)  Call the game warden and let him know what you found.  Someone is hunting out of season.  He will help you keep an eye out in the area.

Jack,

That is a possibility, but that arrow may well be left over from December.

I'm wondering what the maximum distance might be from your garden to the point of origin. Any archers who can shed some light?

Douglas, great question. In the past 27 years, this is the second time I have found an arrow in my garden. The first time, I knew my neighbor allowed hunting…now he doesn’t.

Edit:   As an after thought, I never asked him for details on why he posted no hunting.  I am beginning to wonder if he found arrows. He has a few children, and finding arrows could be a concern.

I know my son's all archery hunt and won't take a shot over 60 yds.

A few years ago one of them shot an arrow across my property to see how far it would go.  This was with a compound bow.
It made it 325 yards.  That's a long, long ways.  I have seen youtube shorts where people were shooting arrows 500 yards, not hitting their targets, but still.......

Some idiot could have shot an arrow into the air........  Arrows and broadheads are not cheap.

Don't doubt the prowess of idiots.
I had a friend who was house sitting for his parents in the countryside, and another friend of his was there.
In the backyard there, they were target shooting with bows (and probably drinking -bad idea!).
This careless friend of his shot an arrow way up in the air 'for fun'... and it landed over the fence right on the neighbor's walking path.
My friend was confronted by the neighbors and had to explain and apologize.
He was so furious that he severed ties with the other friend.

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
