In the book, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Murakami describes the overture to The Thieving Magpie as "quite possibly the best song for making spaghetti".

So I tried it.

He might be right.  It's long enough to last prep to serving.  It's energetic like boiling water.  It's fun to attempt to whistle to.

It's going to be a hard one to beat.

What's your favourite spaghetti cooking song?

I was so sure that this thread was going to have the Swedish chef. I guess that's the song I hear when making spaghetti.

You can have both spaghetti and meatballs--they have the same song!

This one isn't really long enough to cook spaghetti to, but then I guess you could sing it through several times...
