shuffled some Warré boxes around this evening. crooked comb has come up a fair amount here, so I thought I might post some photos. these are far from the curliest comb I've encountered, but they are pleasingly sinuous.
Looks like they started at top centre, then with the two to either side of that, then somehow forgot about the middle one and did their best to keep the spacing right.
That kind of comb building is made by the rare Welostthetapemeasureandplumlinebutwhattheheckthisisgoingtolookreallycool honey bees. Sometimes the more common bees like to copy them.
