Bokashi Stank Problem, How to Clean Out the Bin?

So I've been doing Bokashi composting since autumn, and so far things have gone reasonably well, until summertime that is when things got hot, and stinky. I don't know if its the heat or if leaving it to set for 3 weeks one time instead of the proper two weeks messed it up, but its raunch now. What is a safe and permy way to clean out the bin and get rid of the nasty odor and get things back on track?

Three weeks in summer heat is definitely what got you, the timing really matters when it's warm. I just rinse mine out and leave it in direct sun for a day or two, UV sorts most of the smell. The fermented material itself is still worth burying in the garden, dig it in a bit deeper and the soil microbes deal with the rest quickly.

Yes, rinse and dry thoroughly. I don't clean out my barrel, it definitely gets stinky, but then again I am in a relatively hot environment and that's just sort of how it goes. I keep it down at the bottom of the garden and don't worry about it.

Thanks guys, I'll do that. Because my yard is small and next to apartments the neighbours on the other side of the fence likely hate me, the composting set up is near that fence by necessity, no other place to have it set up, and I add my Bokashi stuff to the compost pile once its done its process in the bin.

Be reasonable. You can't destroy everything. Where would you sit? How would you read a tiny ad?
