Hello everyone! I have been here since April, first as a Sepper then to Boot.

Started the day watering some apple trees.

Then some log fencing but we call them junk pole, lol!

In the afternoon at Basecamp, watered some baby trees

Ending it with chainsaw maintenance.

This morning I watered the same apple trees.

Then went back to junk pole fencing but this time I debarked a log before setting it in place with some assistance cause they are pretty heavy.

In the afternoon, I sharpened some chainsaws that were used in the morning. Unfortunately, did not take photos because there was a slight change of plans and went back to The Lab a little earlier than planned for more junk pole fencing.

I cut a needed piece from a fell tree and half debarked and trimmed some another log to be put into place for fencing.

Hello everyone!

Today this morning finished trimming down a "log" and had it placed for the junk pole fencing. I was pleasantly surprised to know that it came down just about right. I moved it around some until it stood solid. Thank goodness I got photos of the work I did cause it might all come down unfortunately.

For the afternoon, I was part of a recycling run.

Afterwards was just about to work on another log. It would've been the thickest one yet but due to some uncertain circumstances plans changed.

So, I took another direction and watered the apple trees nearby.

Thank you for sharing your Bootcamp experience so far, it is great to see what a day-in-the-life is like up at the Lab.

Can't wait to see more!

Are junkpoles usually that stout? I haven't been there in person, but my impression from previous boots and Paul's original posts on the topic was that they were quite a bit smaller.

Hi everybody!

Began the morning, setting up and doing irrigation for up at The Lab.

While there, also did some jug watering for the small trees and some raspberry plants.

Towards the end, got to do mulching for a few of the trees.

Returned to Basecamp, did more irrigation.

In the afternoon, moved the sprinkler as pictured for irrigation at Basecamp, not pictured is then I moved that same sprinkler to the hugel next to the one pictured. We had decided that was a better position due to the two hour timing we set up for watering a particular spot til we move the sprinklers again throughout the day.

Returned back to Lab and did some more junk pole fencing for the new frame that has been put up. This new framing allows for thin junk poles.

Ended the day, changing the cans for one of the willow feeders. It was a last minute thing but due, no pic. Still gotta get used to taking pics for each task, getting there, lol!

That was about it.

So the second upright on the support post defines a bit how thick the uprights need to be? Do you alternate the 'junk pole' infills up and down to nest them better? I do quite like the look of these fences....

Hi again everybody!

Ok let's get to the tasks I did today.

In the morning, before heading to The Lab, got supplies together for irrigation.

As well as changing a used garbage can to a new one at
the Willow Bank.

In the afternoon at Base Camp, assisted a fellow Boot on changing a tool box from the back of the tractor.

Afterwards, chop and dropped some comfrey and laid it out at the Feral Garlic Patch.

Then watered young trees.

Finished the day with chainsaw maintenance

Hi everybody!

Today I did my time only in the afternoon.

So for the afternoon, I went up to The Lab and watered the two apple trees.

Afterwards, by the Abbey did some junk pole fencing. As you are able to see in the photos. This time the framing is done in a way so that much thinner junk poles are being used. Not the thicker "logs" like I was previously showing you. The thinner junk poles is the ideal size.

Towards the end of the day, I took a break and gave the cats that are up there some fresh water before returning back to fencing.

Hey everybody!

Sooo today, started off the morning going up to The Lab to continue with junk pole fencing.

In the afternoon at Basecamp, moved one of the sprinklers since we do irrigation throughout the day. We do one section at a time every two hours. That has made a difference in how everything looks.

Then took part in a video probing the soil from one of the hugels. The idea is to show how some areas the soil is good, in others it's so and so; midway, and the area I showed still needs more attention as far as irrigation is concerned.

After that, headed back up to The Lab.

Hi again!

I assisted with the setting up for irrigation before heading over to The Lab.

From there up at The Lab, changed the water for the cats who stay at Allerton Abbey.

Then proceeded to join the group already there with junk pole fencing.

In the afternoon at Basecamp, since it started raining. I stayed indoors by the shop doing chainsaw maintenance.

Hi!

This morning, went up to Allerton Abbey to do more junk pole fencing. But before I got to that, I got assistance with replacing one of the poles from the framing itself.
This particular pole got replaced due to it being rotted out. Once that was done, I resumed to the usual routine.

In the afternoon, down by Basecamp, I cleared out a trail I had done a good while ago on top of one of the hugels.

That is all for today.

Hello everyone!

In the morning, up at The Lab, refreshed the drinking water for the Allerton Abbey cats.

Then went onto doing more junk pole fencing.

In the afternoon, down at Basecamp, continued with cleaning up the one of the trails by the Horseradish Hugel.

While doing that, Paul, came out to do some clearing himself. Since there is a new trail added at the bottom of Horseradish Hugel, he wanted it so when folks come by and park by Turtle Lot, there will be some visible trail to follow going to the Fisher Price House. Sooo, I assisted Paul in the creation of stairs which lead to a trail the goes up towards the Fisher Price House and nearby locations.

Afterwards, went back up to The Lab for guess what? More junk pole fencing, lol!

That was it for Friday!

Hello everybody!

Since it was raining on and off, started the morning down at Basecamp. The first project consisted of making the stairs that Paul and I chiseled away until it was right there more noticeable. I cleared it out some and will continue to clear some more tomorrow before deciding exactly what to add on to it if at all.

For the afternoon, went up to The Lab and went on with junk pole fencing. Towards the end of the afternoon, checked on the cats and saw that their water needed some changing.

That was all for the day.

Oh yes, one more thing, yesterday I had to take a pic of a 🌻 that is located by the entrance. What makes this sunflower so special, is that out of all the seeds that were planted back in April. This is the only one so far that came alive💛... If you look closely, you'll see a 🐝.

No Christopher junk poles are not usually stout. Yet, it does depend on how the framing is built. If anybody has any experience with framing, I believe they are aware of what they are doing. The last three stout junk poles I put up and were taken down with a new framing. In this new framing, no stout junk poles.

Yes, Nancy, I alternate the junk poles when I fill in the framing for the most part. First and foremost is to alternate. If I don't, it will be due to what is available at the moment or for a small section there is a certain way the poles will go in easier. Alternating or not, the poles are put in to fit as firmly as possible. If it's too loose, it comes right back out and maybe it will fit better in another section. The poles have to fit right and look a certain way for me to be satisfied.

Hello everyone!

I started the day by going to The Lab. Once there, I fed the Abbey cats and changed their water. From there, continued with junk poles.

In the afternoon, back at Basecamp, continued with the stairs by the new trail that was paved when we had the excavator. So today, what I basically did was clean out as much I was able to. It is still an going project.

Afterwards ended the day by changing some of the light bulbs at the Work Shop. This turned out to be an on going progress project as well. As I was changing the bulbs found out some of the lamps will be needing some repair. Plus, now I need to figure out if some of the bulbs I took out really are used up or are still good.

Ended the day with Taco Tuesday.

Hi!

Ok, so in the morning continued with junk poles. But first, the Abbey cats got fed and left with fresh water. Continuing with the junk poles, while my fellow boots are doing the framing ahead of me. I'm right there following along filling in the framing.

For the afternoon at Basecamp, watered the small trees on Lightning Hill.

Then moved on to some more cleaning up by the newly discovered stairs.

Closed the day with chainsaw maintenance

No, the pics I have been showing of the growing trees are not from the Anotovka seeds by Arrakis. Unfortunately, there are no trees by those seeds by Arrakis.

Hello!

Let's get right down to what was accomplished today

In the morning, fed the Abbey cats and changed their water. Then proceeded with the junk poles. In the case that I do not come across a particular junk pole, I customize it using three tools.

In the afternoon, did chainsaw maintenance with the remaining ones. Finished them off with the assistance of a new Boot after showing him the procedure.

After that task was completed, I continued with stairs which are still a work in progress.
