September 22nd is the day of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' birthday. So Lord of the Rings fans across the world celebrate it as Hobbit Day. We are in the middle of harvesting potatoes. So I think we will celebrate with some sort of potato dish. Maybe we will stick 'em in a stew.

How do you celebrate Hobbit Day?

I'm a day late, but I just wanted to chime in and say I did in fact mash'em.  (The potatoes that is.)  That was just how my menu turned out.  I had not realized it was hobbit day.

But happy birthday Frodo and Bilbo!

We had potatoes in a stew, too!

Samwise Gamgee deserves an honourable mention here, Mr Frodo wouldn't have got far without his Sam, the tater expert.

He’s a Baggins, not some blockheaded Bracegirdle from Hardbottle.

We had garden stir-fry. The tomatoes, green beans and squash were all fresh from the garden. It was delicious!
