I am organizing book promotions and wanted to hear what you guys thought is the best composting book out there. Which ones would you be most excited about an opportunity to get for free!

I have never felt the need to read a book about composting, There is so much information available here and other places both online and also pamphlets and even free classes.

probably about 15 or so years ago I read 'worms eat my garbage' and I liked it but I can't say how it compares to any other compost books.

That's a good point Meryt. Well are there any other books, even on other topics, you'd like to see a promotion done for?

Hands down, 'science of composting' Eliot Epstein

It's a $200 textbook tho

Thanks! I was sort of looking for something where an author could come do a promotion like we do each week but it is still good to have a thread like this for people regardless.

Well now, a promotion? I recommend Dr Elaine Ingham. Probably one of the top soil scientists around. Oh and BTW was also one of the "staff" at the Rodale Institute. If you can call the chief scientist staff! With Elain you would have the last in a long line of soil and compost scientist's knowledge going all the way back to Sir Albert Howard who inspired Rodale. There really isn't anyone more qualified on the planet to discuss composting and the soil food web, and she does guest talks and instruction.

Here is one (first hour):

Oops, sorry. I've gotta vote for the Humanure Handbook. Radical composting!

Or Ruth Stout, who laughed at her brother carefully piling accurate layers in his compost pile while she threw the leftovers under the mulch and wandered off for a nap in the hammock. But she's no longer available for book signings.

Works at a residential alternative high school in the Himalayas SECMOL.org . "Back home" is Cape Cod, E Coast USA.

Ditto Humanure Handbook - so much more than just humanure, an incredibly comprehensive and engaging book covering many aspects of manure upcycling.

Worms Eat My Garbage by Mary Appelhof.
The book offers all the information needed to set up a home scale vermicomposting project. Mary Appelhof died in 2005 but her work lives on.
