Im currently looking to purchase several acres to build retirement homestead around Jasper TX area, looking for wooded backed up to timber company or national forest. I want to build another metal house (this will be my third to build). Currently live in a 4,300 sq/ft house with 5,000 gallon rain catchment on 2 acres with stocked pond, with gardens chickens large raised beds(to keep geese out) over 100 fruit trees. I know how to plumb, do electrical (wired my whole home and generator hookup), ran all pex etc.

I’m 39. Live with my puppy on ten acres in the northern part of Idaho up in the mountains. Quick beautiful and it just started snowing. Looking for a person that wants to live the life I guess. Have a couple great kids that don’t live with me. Love to build things go fishing and hunting. Love to cook have an orchard that I am getting back in shape. I don’t drink anymore and that’s definitely not going to change. Winter here we go. Be well

Hi, I go by Qu and I'm 31. I'm new to all this. I love the idea of a self-sustaining life.
Things I've learned: How to make my own butter, section a chicken, I'm okay a biscuit making, making cookies from scratch and cooking.

What I'd love to learn in the future: skinning and section other meat/animals, getting good at bread making, get better at crocheting and or knitting. Although I'm a city woman, I do love the peace of the suburbs/country side. I hope my goals don't seem to far fetched. I love talking to and meeting new people. I look forward to making new friends here.

Hi friend!
Welcome to permies!
Well you sure will learn a lot on this site!

It's fine you're currently in the city, and, there are all sorts of opportunities to green city spaces (like plant apple cores in city bushes and if they grow enough, tag them as apple!!!)

I'm 60, female, straight, antique truck lover, writing to you from QuΓ©bec to welcome you aboard -- you will find we're a friendly non threatening bunch of mostly non political tree huggers πŸ˜‚

Men stay strong, we are in this together! Sticking to OUR own unique journeys on a path of growth - spiritually and physically is important when days feel like years and lonliness has a grip.

These are the times we can challenge ourselves :) The most important relationship we have is with that fella in the mirror.

Do them pushups, read that book, sketch that idea!

What's that saying?? It's something like this...

If you spend your time chasing butterflies they'll just keep flying away, create a garden and they will come to you.

We are all part of this earthly and cosmic flow, nature has it's own ideas of "time" and circumstance...tap into that and embrace it, for I believe power exists in realms that are sometimes blurred by our emotions.

Waaaaay easier said than done, and I've ran off plenty of people due to my fumbles along the way. But I'm not losing hope, and neither should you.
