There's a whole lot of sawdust, I see sticks, you're adding urine. OK. Are there loops and loops of copper tubing in there?

And, how do you turn it/stir it, if you even do that?

Oh, and if you're wearing a skirt, adding female pee would be pretty simple. In overalls the whole thing gets a lot more tricky. . .

An excellent 'collector' for lady's golden elixir is a large size yellow plastic Nesquik container. Fill up a watering can and make your contribution :) (What to do with the 'chocolate powder' ? make brownies? soil amendment? not too healthy but probably not poison :)

Perhaps someone already suggested this: maybe you can FIRST use the sawdust in animal areas and then, when you clean them out, the sawdust will be full of animal wastes (nitrogen). THEN, it'll really be useful in the compost pile. I know my cats would like it in a litter box. I'd have to scoop out the poop, though.

Here is my Compost Water Heater thats tied directly into my home's main plumbing system.

has anyone tried the compost hot water on a green house WITH NO PUMP . I am a plumber and we install circulating systems with no pump(only a check valve) in homes that the water heater is lower than the living areas where hot water is needed. Heat rises, as water cools it returns thru a check valve at the bottom of the water heater. point of use on demand hot water . If that same thought was applied to a green house several hundred feet of pipe in a compost heap, one line going to the green house to the beds then check valve returning water to heap. I am fixing to build a green house and plan on doing it on a hill side(slight) with compost below. Has anyone done this. Doesn't make much sense to use a pump if this can be done. This is a sealed system . water just continually circulates. Thanks for a reply , Billy

So someone here tried working out the privacy screen project using a few scraps from the saw mill. It worked for the front wall, but only the front wall. Paul thinks that in order to facilitate easier peeing for everyone, the whole structure needs to be re-imagined rather than trying to build onto something that is already a little shakey, especially the railings in some spots.

These questions are mostly for Paul, but I figured putting them out here might bring in a few ideas rather than just emailing him.

I took some measurements and I'm fiddling around with sketchup. I'm wondering how much of the existing wood you'd like to use.

Do you want the whole structure to be bigger to accommodate a larger pile?

What level of notching? I think it would be interesting to experiment with timber framing joinery instead of spikes, bolts, and screws... but I don't know enough about that sort of thing to actually make it happen or direct anyone.

I think it would be a good idea to put the stairs on the opposite side between the structure and the showers to make the pile more accessible for turning/moving the compost for whatever reason with the tractor bucket (6ft) without cutting into the terrace above/next to the structure.

Moving the pooper to the road above so that the urine diverter can gravity feed into the pile.
Is this road above (Lower Sherwood?) being closed once the new road is built?

We now have a 45hp Kubota with a pto auger, and a loader with pallet forks and a bucket. It should make rebuilding this a little easier.

For the ladies, including the more shy (but excluding those with a fear of heights) I can imagine something that looks like a small shower surround, with three walls (which could be made of junk wood) and a curtain, but no floor. OK, maybe two floor boards, but just at the left and right sides.

Hmm, at this point a solar powered motion sensing light becomes a good idea! I bought one at Costco and put it on the shipping container when we had that in the driveway. Now it sits on the chicken hutch, and it's useful for when I don't remember to shut them in until after dark. It has LED lights, and is still going strong almost two years after purchase.

Anyway, this structure would need to be right over the pile, and I'm imagining it right over the center of the pile. So, the guys are aiming over from the current structure onto the pile, and hitting the upper slopes, and the ladies are peeing right down onto the very pinnacle of the pile. Yes, you would need a roll of toilet paper in that "blind," preferably attached to the wall like in a "normal" bathroom.

It goes without saying that wobbly is not cool for compost perching. In order to have the supporting structure well out of the way of the Kubota, I'm thinking it would have to be pretty high up.
