this is a fun place to browse I think... Project Gutenberg ......mostly old and out of date but still valuable as a resource. Here is a link to their technology 'bookshelf' that includes craft, cooking, woodworking, etc. technology 'bookshelf'

Love this site!  There are so many free old books to be had.  Also https://archive.org/ .  Even https://play.google.com/books has free  out-of copyright.
