We recently aquired an Andes Range and Furnace duel fuel stove. We've done a little cleaning and finally got it put together in the backyard as part of my outdoor kitchen. We will only be using the wood side of it. My question is, how do I keep smoke from billowing out of every nook and cranny? I have the flue open for the fire side. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Tracy and welcome to permies!

I don't see a stove pipe in your picture, if you don't have one tall enough that would keep it from drawing well. We cooked and canned on a wood cook stove outdoors every summer for several years.............it was hot but better than cooking in the cabin over wood in the summer.
I think if you get a good draw with enough pipe and some nice split dry good burning wood, it shouldn't smoke out any cracks.
We ran our pipe up pretty high because there were quite a few trees right around where we had it set up. On some stoves we sealed what cracks we could with a paste of ashes and salt, I think............that has been a longgggggggggggg time ago so don't try it without some research

There is a stove pipe in the back, however it is not very tall. I will try that and see if it solves our problem.

My husband thinks ours was around 10 feet tall......enough that it needed wiring to brace it and still it would blow down in a good storm sometimes.

Wow 10 feet tall. I guess if it were in a house it wouldn't seem as tall. We'll give it a go.

try even just a few feet and see if that helps your draw....then you might see how high much higher you need to go....you sure don't want that smoke out the pipe in your face while you're cooking.
