Project Airstream needs to be renovated as eco conscious as possible. My needs are 55 gallons of shower temp. water daily used in increments of 7gallons/1hr for 7hrs. day! I am going to try my best to acquire information also for a grey water (shower) recirculation system? As for solar generator (brands, price estimate, systems) to power my water heating needs along with electrical load (appliances) 18.5 amps increments of an hour every 2 hrs for total of 7 hr day. (150 amps daily). Trying to make this happen on a budget of 7k. Thanks guys for inputs

Ashley Johnson : Your Title for this thread is a little confusing ! As are your total water requirements, If we had your Location and number of people in your family unit
we might be able to help your needs.

If you are going the humanure composting route and recirculating urine be haps deleted with a worm/or compost tea your water needs are very simple! Otherwise you
will be stealing about 1 gallon of grey water a flush to feel with this plumbing issue!

There are many types of shallow holding ponds or lagoons stocked with aquatic plants like reeds rushes, and cat tails that are very effective in filtering the grey water
as it runs from pool to pool, most good systems try to include mini waterfalls to add oxygen into the flow but even with a 3 tank system with your water being filtered
all 3 times you do not have to have much of a drop in elevation at the end of your Grey water filtration and collecting system. this will be important when you have to
re-pump the water up to a holding tank at your Airstream ! Here is a place where as simple a unit as a pair of solar powered bilge pumps with battery back up could
each lift the water half way to your final tank !

If necessary, part of the final water could be re-pumped back to the 1st reed bed tank following days of heavy use! Careful siting of this landscaping feature could
produce a mini-climate condition with some solar gain in standing water temperatures ! You will be the final judge of how well your system works, and the uses your
final product can be put to!

Depending on Orientation to the sun, location, number of sunny days (late afternoon early evening are prime use times !) You should have shower temperature water
most of the time* using sunlight to directly heat the water!

Trying to use a solar PV system to turn light energy into electricity, store the electricity and then use that electricity to heat up an electrical heating
element to heat water for showers or any purpose, contains so much lost energy at every step to make trying to run any resistance wire heating system a non-starter.

Lights and electrical motors and computers and entertainment certainly within the limits of your system !

Your total amps use expected seems little high, but there is much about your situation we Don't understand.

You might like to glance at the link below, While this member is starting to understand using solar power with less knowledge than you, his take one bite at a time
approach should give him a final project result that he understands!

Finally, so that you don't miss it there is a good discussion on water temperature safety /shower safety added onto the Thread at the end that needs to be shared with
Everyone, not just the D.I.Y. / Solar enthusiast !

Here is that link !

My comment is posted second or third from the bottom !

Finally, I have been in danger of saying something poorly or incorrectly and need to stop pushing my luck !

Final note : when your PV system is cranking out maximum power, and your batteries are toped-off that is the best time to splurge a little
and use that electricity, go ahead and use a microwave Good Luck, and Good hunting For there Crafts ! Big AL

Ashley :This is a little off of the wall but may be useful -talk it over with your dad ! Your need for hot water corresponds with your arrival at your first stop of the day!

By planning your fist customer as the one farthest away you will be able to harvest the waste heat output of your cars engine to easily heat more than enough hot
water for each stop.

As well as the car engines radiator, you have a second radiator actually located within the passengers side of the dash of your car ! this is the source of your personal
heat which we will leave stock, however you can run a separate set of two heater hoses to a remote location ether in the rear of your towing vehicle or moved into the
Airstream ! The two heater hoses, one the supply and one the return will meet at your holding tank and connect up to a heater core (or two!) and the vehicles water
pump will supply all the hot water you want. Because the vehicles water never leaves the hoses or the heater core (your radiator ) There is no cross contamination of
your hot water for grooming !

Please pardon the poor word choice but I want to point out than in many municipalities the difference between the Roach Coach that sets up at construction sites and
All the licensed meals on wheels enterprises is the requirement for all food storage areas to be protected with hot water bath 'Steam Tables'

Also much of your electrical needs can be met through your cars alternator, with batteries located again within the trunk of your car ! Here is a link to Permies own in
house expert Steven Harris on the electrical hook-ups you will need !

While I understand your desire to go solar it should be pointed out that the vibrations and shocks and jars will be much like a continuous earthquake and your daily
travels will cause structural wind loading equal to riding out a Hurricane or a Tornado's near miss.

A good carpenter can build for many conditions some worse than these, but the slender wall and rook studs, and the Thin aluminum skin will not take kindly to the
burden you are asking them to accept

Perhaps you will be able to store and travel with and set-up some limited amount of Solar Equipment when you get to your Clients House, but will street side parking
give you the correct orientation and solar incidence angles to guarantee a useful amount of solar gain ! This modification of your clever and novel plan will let you
work ran or shine

Your customers are paying for convenience and will appreciate recycled energy regardless of the form it takes !

You can do exactly like you did with me contact Mr. Harris directly, and offer to talk with him in a new Alternative Energy Forum/ Thread that you will start !

This seems like a more practical way to achieve your goals with the budget that you have !

For the good of the crafts ! Big Al !
