I am driving down to PV2 from the bay area BUT I have a weird situation because I am staying in San Diego for another week after the conference because I have to be in LA march 15 so I can offer three spots in my car for the ride down, but I don't think that would be super helpful because I wouldn't be able to drive you back.

ANYWAY, I wanted to start this thread mostly for everyone who is driving that would maybe be willing to carpool!! So, if you are driving and willing to take other people, PLEASE reply to this post saying where you are coming from!

Yayyyyy for saving gas money and the earth!

Hey I will be driving in from the east county San Diego as much as that helps. One of the things to consider is parking at the convention center its aweful. If you are driving in with a bunch of folks that are going to be doing the same things as you afterwards I would suggest group parking well away from the convention center and taking 1 car into the center parking. The peak traffic into the center can be bad as well as the daily price goes from $15 to $25 if there is something going on at petco park. Just a few thing to consider.

NOTE: The conference is not at the convention center. And it isn't in downtown San Diego.

It is at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.

DO NOT GO TO THE CONVENTION CENTER OR DOWNTOWN. YOU WILL BE IN THE WRONG PLACE.
You probably want to delete this thread to avoid confusion.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I will be able to make .. I was going .. friends from here in Vegas are also going & we were all hoping to get a house to keep lodging costs down but they had to get a place for the Gramma's to also stay with them so they can watch their kid ... so if I lived in San Diego I would so be there .. hotel costs are gonna be too much ... while I have my dream job of teaching Permaculture in elementary schools here .. I only work 2 days a week for now ... gonna have to settle for getting the recordings of both PV 1 & 2 .. unless some talented whipper snapper wants to live blog the whole event ? hmm ?

Have a great trip & HI-5 Paul for me !!

So parking is difficult in this area of San Diego. I called the Hotel and they said that this is how the parking works.

At the Hotel:

Self Parking- $8 first hour $4 every hour after that with a max of $24 per day. There are no in and out privileges unless you are an overnight guest. If you purchase food or drink from the restaurant or bar you can have your ticket validated for 1/2 off the price of your parking.

Valet Parking - $10 First hour $6 every hour after that with a max $35ish per day. Same no in and out but the 1/2 off deal above applies as well.

Other than that there are not many other options for parking outside of that if you are driving solo. There is some parking in the Harbor Drive Park, but every time I have ever been down there parking is not to be had, you could try though. If you are carpooling the best spot would be Liberty Station. It is on the west side of the bay has some great places to eat and plenty of parking. Liberty station is on the way from Hotel Circle in Mission valley if you are staying that way. Mass/public transit Is likely not a good play as there is not a close trolley stop and I have no experience with the bus system.

I am not sure how many people are staying in the area from out of town, but Mission Valley has a lot of hotels. There are a good number of hotels closer, but I think they are more spendy. Most folks are going to pay $75 a night for a cheap room anyways, I would just pony up for the hotel PV2 is in just to make it easier.

Hi Cassie,

I live in the Sacramento area, but could definitely be in the bay area come time to shove off to the conference. Would love to take you up on your car pool offer if it still stands. Thanks!

Is anyone driving from Texas? My partner and I are in San Antonio looking for a ride, and hoping to leave on the 2nd.

Yeah we still have room! You do know that I won't be driving back up to the bay after the conference though, right? Just making sure.

Awesome! Yes I realize that's part of the deal. Not a problem. Great! I have gas money, a drivers license, plenty of dad jokes, and most likely some snacks to share.

Hey all, i'll be driving from Fresno with one other person for the event. We are staying in north San Diego and taking the I-5 down to the Sheraton Marina. What we don't know is where the best place to park would be. Parking at the hotel is outrageously expensive, and we were considering parking at the Spanish Landing and moving our car when we need to. What are y'all doing? We do have three spots in our car (two if you want to be comfortable) for carpooling! Thank you.
