Hello, i am a 21 year old aspiring permaculturealist, among other things.. i, am especially interested in permaculture for profit, in the context of intentional communities, sustaining themselves and providing the surrounding area with surplus at market prices, except perhaps transportation costs.. i guess it is worth saying that i am a visionary, or i might just be slightly idealistic, or perhaps thats saying the same thing, either way, i have no illusions about the vast body of knowledge beckoning, demanding to be traversed in order to fulfill even the more....'dainty' aspects of any vision involving a topic like this. my current vision is an agro-forestry/silvopasture farm/community consisting of roughly 100 acres, such an endeavor would include outreach programs, and workshops/ community involvement as much as possible.. it owuld also incorporate multiple reaserch and breading programs, delving into sustainable energy, intermediary biofuels, breeding programs, aboriginal studies, and applications (where applicable of course), and an outlook on nature, and the nature of reality, through a perspective lens that reconciles modern and emerging science, with the mystical wisdom of centuries past.. not religious, or even spiritual per se, just objective self evident "truths" concerning self definition, as a subjective experience.

Hello Max, and everyone else who has posted here. I know it's been a while since your original query, but I think I'm at a similar place to you - I'm in my twenties and beginning to explore my direction within what I'm learning about permaculture, but I don't own any significant portion of land (yet). I'm also very interested in living in an intentional community with other like-minded people, giving surplus back to the larger community, living as sustainably as possible.

My husband and I live in Story City, Iowa, about 10 minutes north of Ames, and we have almost 1/2 acre that we are just starting to develop. If you are ever in our area, please reach out!

Hi, Max and all. This post is a bit dated...but, I just joined the site today. I would certainly be interested in connecting to any and all of you who are interested in finding ways that we could work together and benefit one another. I live on 287 acres in south central Iowa and there is plenty of room and plenty of work that could be done for the benefit of the land, the community, and everyone involved. Please feel free to contact me. Thanks! Susan

I don't get on here enough! I am one of those in Sioux Falls. I keep finding more of us, too . I grew up in Lake Park, IA (15 minutes from boji) and visit there once in a while to see family. If you are on Facebook, make sure you join Midwest Homesteading and Permaculture. I'm pretty sure there are NW IA folks in there.
