For urban/suburban permaculture, Peter Bane's Permaculture Handbook is a very good read. Gaia's Garden is really good, informative, accessible, it is really helpful, in my view. On the fungi front, anything Paul Stametz has published. Mycelium Running is his most recent, but he has a handbook on growing edible and medicinal mushrooms and Paul is a flatout visionary.
Mark Shepard's good for larger scale operations, but if your focus is urban Mark's stuff might be a lower priority for you.
