Ok, so this is an idea, and I am not sure how it will land but here we go....

Could we, should we, add article like info on closed threads that are sticky on the top of the sub forums?

Easiest example would be to have a thread with all the math, ideal measurements, and techniques that are "free info" on the top of the rocket stove forum, it could be closed or read only so that it isn't a cluttered mess, could be written by a expert and owned by that person so that as new info gets optimized that can be edited or added.

This would give us a place to look for things as newbies, or refer newbies to credible easily accessed info, or just double check our memories! It could become a great way to get folks to come look at permies if they are referred to the info, and don't have to search 50 conversations. Plus there is credibility to info that has been vetted, compiled, and wordsmithed to be easily understood.

Downside is that some sub forums might not work for this.

Ok, so does that make sense? Is it of any value to anyone else? Or is it crazy?

I prefer forums that know they are forums and don't try to be something they are not. Right now, on the front page of permies.com there is an article section that is separate from the forums.

Paul does not like stickies in the forums. He does like when people write articles for the permaculture wiki which has a link at the top of your screen. That would be a good place for what you describe, then folks could link to that in the forums.
