Amatuer farmer/builder

Hi all! I am seeking some advice for building houses and other structures. I bought Mike ohlers 50$ house book but it looks like its for a more experienced person. What's a good start? Shipping container home? A good book for beginners? I have some money to spend but would rather do it all from scrounged material. I really want to build an underground house but I'm not sure I'm ready or have all the right kinda info.

I am buying land in Three Forks Montana and plan in working full time while building my house. Thanks!

Shipping containers are NOT suited for underground construction.

By the time you reinforce them to function underground you might as well have just built a concrete underground home to start.

If you like the theory behind Mike's methods and have the cash to spare, you should grab his dvd's [I think they might be legally available for digital purchase now as well?] They should help show what you're not understanding.

Carpentry and underground building are a bit hard just make sure you do calculation properly to make sure you do not get burried alive from something collapsing

Ive never built something of this magnitude underground but i would find myself a forum//community online of engineer since they love solving problem even if its for free and some get a real kick out of calculating those kind of situation
