Manilkara maxima (Sapotaceae) - Species rare and extremely ornamental, very good flavor and creamy texture. One of the species of the genus Manilkara with a large fruit, usually the species of Manilkara has small fruits and does not taste good, but unfortunately due very exceptional wood used by loggers that are contributing to the disappearance of these species.
Micropholis sp. (Sapotaceae) - The flavor is excellent, one of the best fruits of the family of Sapotaceae, a friend made an interesting comment that defined too well the fruit looks like a vegetable candy, the pulp takes to be removed from the seed and the taste remains long, too interesting.

Campomanesia xanthocarpa (Myrtaceae) - We have available 5 varieties of this species, there is much variation in flavor, pulp cream flavor, flavor mango pulp, pulp spicy flavor, pulp lemon flavor, and other varieties which ranges in size format of fruits and different aspects in the plant's characteristics. In my opinion some varieties I do not think right classified as C. xanthocarpa, but they would be numerous Campomanesia sp. That way I have grouped the plants with characteristics closer to C. xanthocarpa, and collected the fruits separately, not sure if the characteristics of each variety will be maintained through the propagation by seeds. Exceptional species for commercial cultivation, possibility to produce countless manufactured products.

Vasconcellea sp. (Caricaceae) - Dioecious species, very interesting sweet taste and nice texture.
Eugenia uniflora (black variety) - excellent variety around 3 centimeters diameter, one of the best varieties of pitanga I have ever experienced, very sweet and very little astringent.
Chrysophyllum sp. - One of the best fruits of the family of Sapotaceae I have ever experienced, taste really excellent creamy and imperceptible amount of latex, and great amount of pulp. Germinated seeds collected last season, about 15 seeds available. Since the fruits were collected I tried to find out if there was identification in botanical literature, but without success, it is a new species that has yet to be identified.

The germination rate of the species is variable. Like most species have not been cultivated, are native species, we have no additional information about germination. But we can confirm that the seeds are fresh and viable.
I have the black pitanga, it grows well in Canaria and we get fruits twice per year.
They are sweeter than the light red pitanga.
They flower and fruit, and just flower again whenever we water enough.
I always look for more, but what is typically from the wet forest is not the best for me!
I cannot have ONLY species that I have to water a lot.
What would you advise (I mean in your list) as more adapted to subtropical than tropical climate?
About anonas, here we grow the chirimoya, and the other anonas are, to my knowledge, more adapted to warmer climates.
Here I berely go over 28-30ºC in summer (with occasional 40-45 because of Africa nearby)

Hi Pat Browne,
Most of the available species on the list are species that have never been cultivated. That way it is impossible to say I plant development even being grown in Brazil.
So there is the possibility that some of them can adapt the climate of California, but I can not say.
The most important to cultivate these tropical species is having plenty of available water and the temperature is not below 10 degrees Celsius.
