Sprouting grain for bugs

Ok I have two bugs I'm thinking about sprouting grain for

Crickets, grasshoppers and snails (not that a snail is a bug but nowhere else to put it)

Has anyone tried it?

So I don't know anyone who has done that, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

My question is where in the US does one BUY grasshoppers???

I've wanted to breed them as a poultry feed [due to the high protein content and the nature of their diet] but my google fu has failed me horrendously in this endeavor.

Not grasshoppers, but you can buy crickets at your local (I hate to say it) pet store.

Crickets have more demanding diets AFAIK. Carbon is a huge component of what grasshoppers consume.

Poking around looking for grasshoppers I find conversations saying it's illegal to transport locusts (another common name for grasshoppers) across state lines.

I'd ask local fishermen if any of the live bait shops carry them. It might be an alternative market for a small breeder to sell at. Particularly if most internet sales are out of bounds.
