Greetings, We're in proud receipt of the test results on Holly our latest born heifer. She's A2 A2 that's good news if you raise cows.

i would be interested to hear your version of why a2/a2 is so good. any references would be good to.

i have looked into it a bit, but my view seems to be the outlier so ill hold back for a bit.

John Thanks for posting that, it seems well written. While some feel: Milk is milk raw or pasteurized , we think Clean, Fresh, Raw milk is best and A2 is a positive additional factor.

Richard

The girls raise these cows and keep an intact bull, love them and care for them in all kind of weather. Both the milk, matzoon [yogurt] and cheese are wonderful and seem a bit special.

Kelly, Here is information, studies, done at Curtin University:

Curtin University research conducts first human study on A2 milk with subjects reporting less bloat and pain than digesting A1 milk

Hi All; I was glad to see this post, as I was considering writing one about A2-A2 milk myself. Many years back my wife was diagnosed with a dairy allergy. Not lactose intolerant, but a full on allergy to any dairy product (all the good stuff) Unfortunately for me who is not dairy intolerant that meant no butter while cooking , no cheese on anything she makes , no cream soups and many more things. If it took milk, cream ,butter, or cheese she couldn't eat it. I will mention that goat cheese and sheep cheese are ok for her to eat but very expensive and only available at certain places .Coconut milk is a very poor substitute and margarine is nasty... Yes we have all the dairy products here for me to use, but only if I make something just for me... or it doesn't get used. About a year ago while talking to a neighbor who happens to have milk cows, he casually mentioned A2 milk... him not knowing about the wife's allergy, he was surprised when I was so interested. Sadly his A2 cow was dried up at that time so we were not able to try any. He assured me that in a month or so she would be back on line and we could try some out. He would give us a call... after 2 months I called him... seems they decided to sell that heifer and did not have another that tested out A2, DARN ! Well we have been on the lookout for A2 ever since . About 3 weeks ago we were shopping at the natural food store in sandpoint ID. As we passed the coolers the wife says hey look, they have raw milk from a new supplier ... maybe it will be A2...SURE IT WILL... located on the bottom shelf I kneeled down to read the tag and OMG A2 MILK !!! we did the happy dance right there in the store. Of course she hadn't actually tried any yet but we were like 2 kids on christmas morning ! Filled with the hope that MAYBE she (and ME ) could eat foods cooked with dairy again... Over to the checkout to pay and then she held off grabbing the jar until we got to the car ... With any A1 dairy product her nose would plug ,her voice go raspy all within 1 minute or less of consuming any dairy at all. With bright eyes and a smile she shook up the cream into the milk and took her first big drink of real milk in over ten years... with baited breath we waited for a reaction .... NOTHING !!! no reaction at all !!! How Cool is this !!! I will not try to explain how and why A2 milk is different ... I don't care ! All I know is she can cook with dairy again ! She has made herself butter ! She is talking about trying to make cheese!!! I have had some of the best homemade soups in years, biscuits and gravy that tastes hmm oh so good. She can stop using coffee mate (sheetrock dust ) in her coffee! We have a new lease on life !! Real foods that are healthy for us and taste oh so good. I have heard that A2 is good for everybody , i don't know... but if someone you know has a dairy allergy then do them a very big favor and locate and bring them some A2 or at the very least give them the information so that they can locate some for them self. The wife says that lactose intolerant people will still need their lactaid pills but anybody with a dairy allergy just got a reprieve from the governor !

Hi; Referring to A2 milk bought in sandpoint idaho , produced at a small dairy in sagle idaho , pleasant meadow creamery . They have just gotten certified by the state of idaho as a small A2 dairy.

very cool. i was under the impression that the A2 Corp owned the rights to the "A2" milk name. i am surprised to see people using it, seemingly unrelated to the A2 corp.

After a little checking ,you are correct about the A2 corporation having naming rites. After reading your post I inspected the jars the milk comes in. Sure enough A2 is not printed on the lid ,only the isda # and contact information. The A2 info was on a sale sign on the cooler door, it stated that this milk came from tested A2 A2 cows. If more people had this information and the opportunity to try A2 I think that it would become a requested item at the store. I don't know if all the health claims about A2 are true but I do know it worked for us. We are believers!

i personally believe raw milk is the most important part. raw milk from cows eating live grass (vs grass hay) is best imo.

curious if you have tried any other raw milk besides a2/a2 milk? im not sure if its even available in your area, but i would be interested to hear if there is any reaction to all milk (raw or otherwise) except a2

Oh yes, we have tried raw milk many times. I love the stuff, but it did not help the wife. Curiously the state of montana does not allow the selling of raw milk... so when you go to the neighbors to get some, you are getting milk for your animals not human consumption ... We live 27 miles from the north idaho panhandle where you can legally buy raw milk.

Good article kelly: Seems the jury is still out officially. However I did read quite a few posts following that claimed a personal improvement using the A-2 milk, (cow or goat) . For myself and many other people grass fed raw milk A-1 or A-2 is wonderful stuff. For my wife and others it is only the A-2 that is digestible. In the short time that we have been getting the A-2 we have consumed over 10 gallons between butter and soups and cold glasses of milk, ice cream and cheese are coming ! All with zero reaction from my wife...other than claiming all the rich foods would make her fat !

Hi Thomas - this is the type of discussion i was hoping would come out of this thread
i personally do not have anything against A2/A2 cows. if that is the only verson of cows milk that you can drink, then by all means im glad to hear there is someone filling that need.

that said, i see a lot of good dairy cows get passed over because that arent A2/A2 . IMO this is doing a huge disservice to the dairy world as the A2 stuff still leaves a lot up for debate.
we have also had people who would demand A2 milk, never even giving A1 or A1/A2 milk a try.

fwiw - all goat milk is A2/A2, so if there is goat milk you cant drink - its likely something else in the milk causing the issues.

Hi Kelly; I did not realize that goat milk was A2/A2 until reading your article. We knew that goat cheese and sheep cheese were fine for the wife to eat. Just did not realize why. We never tried the goats milk... it is readily available ( in idaho ), unfortunately both of us have been around billy goats and some not so sanitary milking procedures ... kinda spoiled us about liking goat milk. (not fair I know but...) Currently goat/sheep cheese is all she can eat, but with david asher's book in hand we are about to start making our own cheese from A2 ! For people that need A2-A2, it is a godsend ! For the rest of us grass fed raw milk is the healthiest choice. It bothers me that all my life we were told how good milk is for your body/bones... now I learn that only raw milk is good for your bones and the homogenized pasteurized milk they sell in the stores actually is harming your bones ! What kind of world have we created where the almighty dollar is more important than our health !

i have heard similar things about homogenized pasteurized milk. strange how so many things i grew up thinking (believing? ) come to be completely backwards, especially as it related to health.

our cow had a bull calf last saturday, so we are back in milk
we have only had 1 person try our raw milk (A1/A2 genotype) and not be able to drink it. the poor little guy (1yr old) was allergic to a bunch of things though. we referred them to a lady that keeps only a2/a2 cows in hopes they could find some milk that he could drink. I never heard back, i should see if we still have their number and see how it went. agreed that for the people that need it, its a great thing!

Greetings, I've just read Thomas Rubino's post RE: A2 A2 milk and am so happy to have read it. Happy both for Thomas and his wife and for my daughters who have works hard in finding the stock and raising them. I'm sure they'll want to read his, Thomas's, post. It was very well written and in such detail.

This is what many of us have believed and hoped for conformation that it will help those with bad reactions to cow's milk.

Thanks to he and his wife.

Richard
