First, a problem that has plagued us for years ....  I think it has been mended ....  need to hear from folks that, yes, they experienced it in the past, and, yes, it seems to be gone now:   it used to be that sometimes if you took a really long time to write a post, then submitted, it would not go through.   For me, it seemed to usually be a big, blank screen.  And now, for me, this problem seems to not exist anymore.   Anybody else?

The new home page dashboard.  You can try some different views for the forums home page.   Pick your default.   PIE users can even create new views.

Threads in a private forum show up as "periwinkle".

Bulk deletion of bookmarks.

Small changes to help us shift away from "www" and toward "https"

Reduce database hits for image processing.  This is probably something that most people won't notice, but if you see any broken image stuff, please let us know in case the problem is related.

Lots of little things in the mobile view.   Lots more to come!

fix rss link bug

a bunch of new pie features:

ability show number of views in thread lists

ability to show a green bar that shows how far in the thread you last read

    ignore a thread

fix timezone stuff when people have activated the feature to show the time/date instead of relative time.

ability to embed more images in a post.

replace the "eyeball" button to grow/shrink the left column with a +/- button.

"new topic" button added to category views.

the ability to make an indented list just by using the space bar

YES!  I have experienced that in the past.  MANY TIMES!  It trained me to copy the text before pressing submit.

I think it was yesterday that I wrote a post and was interrupted, computer went to sleep which usually does it for me.  Yet, I was still able to submit the post and it showed up.  I thought I was just being lucky.  Same thing seemed to happen again this morning.

Love the new features!
love the new features!  (not showing up indented in preview, I'll press submit and see if it shows up then - yep, shows up in final post but not preview)

I used to get that once in awhile.
Haven't noticed it lately.

My work-around was to 'back-page', then CUT the text, and then start over with a new reply.
Much quicker to paste in the previous text (along with any/all html formatting code).

I do the same thing R. When you lose a few masterpieces of thoughtful creativity you learn to copy to the clipboard every time. Having an intermittent connection, if it blinks during transmission all is lost if you didn't copy first.

another forum software update!

Yesterday we got an update from the lovely folks at coderanch.com.  There were oodles of little things here and there - especially for fighting spam, but here are a few things that you might notice:

- all of the wiki pages will automatically appear in our wiki forum

- new "super staff" feature where, starting october 1, the forum software will announce most active staff

- problem with purple moosages showing name of recipient in an editable field has been mended

I've lost posts occasionally but due to my own connection failing momentarily. Usually if I submit an HTML form and there is a problem I can refresh and the browser will repost the form data. This doesn't happen for me with permies.com, a refresh takes me to the main forum page

Just noticed today the direct link to the last post in a thread is back. Sometimes I just want to review what was said on something I've already read. Being able to skip to the last page of a long discussion in on click was the one thing I missed from the old view. Thanks
