Hi all. I have been. Making a cob oven with my class at school. Haven't yet cleared the sand mould out as i am waiting for it to dry. I had an idea for a chimney based on a rocket oven and am seeking confirmation. The idea was that while the oven was burning with the door shut the fire exhaust would burn up the inner chamber and then be encased by a hot plate on top before exiting via the taller chimney behind ( not built yet). This is more of an experiment with the rocket stove tech than for a real purpose ( maybe heat water on hot plate). If it doesn't work I will just pull it off and patch with nore material. Thoughts?
Welcome to Permies! Great project! Have you seen this thread?
double chamber cob oven - plans It will probably give you enough information to ensure a good build. The hot plate on the horizontal part of the reburn chamber may well give usable cooking heat, though it might cool the gases too fast and kill the reburn. There is one way to find out - experiment. Let us know the results in any case.
Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed. He made this tiny ad:
