wanted: a full time videographer

Jason Smith is trying to help me out right now, but it sounds like he might just help a little here and there.  

I would really like to get my youtube channel back at full production.  I would like somebody that could take video and pics here as cool things are happening.   And those things end up on my youtube channel.   I also like the idea that somebody will wanna crank out a few DVDs per year with me.  

I am willing to share the income from my patreon account for youtube videos.  And I think I will have a pretty decent income from any dvds we create via kickstarter.  

I am looking for somebody that will live here.   Maybe there can be an arrangement so such a person gets their own acre of deep roots.

I want to develop an excellent, very long term relationship with a good videographer.

When i worked with Bart, he would create video far better than what I could even imagine trying to create.  And about five times faster than what I could do myself.   And he used up hardly any of my time.  I would like to find somebody like that that would be cool with living here full time.  

I have been approached by some video editors that wanted to fill this role remotely.   So we gave it a try.   But they would send me samples of their work that were riddled with serious problems that even a beginner videographer would have caught (the sound levels were REALLY bad, or, in one example, the same 1.5 minute clip was in there twice, or the text was seriously broken).   In the end, for each of these folks, it would have taken less time for me to edit it myself than to work with these guys.  

When working with video editors, I have had two tell me that what they would like is for me to make a list of the raw videos, where to clip, and what to add.   My response to that was that I could make those notes in a modern video editor and then there would be no point in hiring a video editor.  

I would like somebody to comb through the video footage we have and talk about awesome youtube videos they would make.   Then I would get a dozen videos to go over and make small suggestions.   Bam, a dozen videos ready for youtube.   And for kickstarter projects, we would do a lot more figuring and planning.  

I would think there would be somebody out that that would really like to live here and be a full time videographer.  Is there?

This is kind of very, very interesting and also challenging to me.

I have been the camera-man and editor as a teenager, but then mainly been a photographer.
It might take a few days to get back into it, but it should not be an issue.
I tried time-lapses too, but they need either something relatively fast changing (within a day or so), or a dedicated camera (I only have one).

I would love to make videos again, just as I would love to work with other permies! (I do have some ideas involving rockets stoves too, but I am not too talented with metal)
However I do not have a lot of money (but enough to cover the travel).

Your name-thing mentions germany.  The us is really weird about non-americans spending more than a few months in the us.

Not forever, but a few years definitely. I will have to figure out the legal possibilities (and sleep a few nights about it).

Given that I would like to start a similar "village" here, learning how it is working for you (as a person and the whole community) would be very valuable to me.

I have to agree that it makes more sense for someone who already lives in the US to do this.

Paul are you still looking for someone? I have a bit of video knowledge but I'm a fast learner. I also have my own camera equipment and an eye for shots. From what I've seen of your videos, I can meet that quality and eventually exceed your expectations. What I'm most experienced at is design and illustration. We could get a few books up and running, too. Either way, my goal is to come to boot in 2022 so I'll be there eventually.

Yes and no.  

Josiah is currently filming and editing the greenhouse movie.   And he has made some youtube vids.

At the same time, I think if we had another videographer it would be even better.
