Hello,

We have learned a lot by reading these forums, and we finally decided to start our small farm.  We're a little nervous, but it's very exciting.

We started a youtube channel to share what's going on, we hope that others that want a small farm will be inspired and we hope that others will help us, we're not farmers yet and can use some advice!

So far we bought the land and a tractor, and our first order of fruit trees.  Videos are here:

We have a little more accomplished but I am still trying to edit the videos to have them make sense.

Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions or comments or advice please let us know.....

Mike

Very inspiring - thanks so much for sharing.

I've embedded the first video here where it's more tempting to click...

Thanks for embedding Burra, I didn't know you could do that!

We went out to check our garden today and the gophers had eaten a huge amount of our produce over the last several days!   I'll do a search here to see about suggestions before posting a separate thread.  So far they left our trees alone...

The neighbor suggested getting a dog bred to catch them like a terrier, but we're unable to own an animal right now - but I thought it was the most "natural" suggestion we received to rid ourselves of gophers....

Welcome to Life! As you'll learn VERY quickly, this is NOT a 9-5 life. On the other hand, I've never been happier. Those little moments of happiness sprinkled throughout the day make me so much happier than working in town. While I milk the goats, I glance up to see the kids playing on the hill. Working in the garden is hot, but the breeze feels better when I straighten up for a second.

Think small when building your home. You won't be inside much and it will be easier to clean and heat. Buy quality tools and take care of them. Forget about buying the cheapest. It may be more expensive in the long run. Same goes for clothes and shoes.

Again, WELCOME TO LIFE!!!
