I live in Alaska and am planning to purchase land in Pacific Northwest in coming year to develop to retire on in years to come.

I do not expect to live on land full time for atleast 5-10 years.

First a little about what I'm looking for. Have not narrowed it down to a specific area could be Washinton, Oregon, Idaho or Montana. Leaning toward eastern Washington or northern Idaho. Looking fo 3-10 acres could be larger if affordable. Full southern exposure a must as long term plan is a passive solar home. Water features would be minimum of a spring with area where pond or ponds could be developed, seasonal or year round stream would be a bonus. Gently sloping preferable to flat land.

Thoughts on what could be provided for other party. For the right party that helps in locating the right party could come to an agreement that works to both our advantage. Allowing you to live on land off grid structure or camp trailer. Work the land developing it for with both short term permaculture projects for your cash flow and subsistence as well as long term projects that fit with my long term vision of the property.

Another possibility would be older couple with older farm that would be interested in selling their place and possibly being able to remain on property with the understanding that the new owner over time would be making changes to the property to fit his vision.

My general vision is a passive solar home, with agroforestry/silvopasture developed for livestock and fruit and nut trees, garden area, honey bee operation, wood lot. Rest would depend on property potential.

Sorry for huge wall of text.

Welcome to the forums, Shannon! That text didn't seem like a wall, to me!

Would you like this thread added to the permaculture real estate forum and/or the WWOOF / organic farm volunteers / interns / jobs forum (or some where else?), too?

For anyone reading this, permies.com staff are able to add threads to multiple forums (aka fora). To ask for that kind of help, use the !Report to moderators button and include in your message what forums you'd like it added to. It's far better to have one thread in multiple forums, than multiple threads in a single forum, for many reasons, so we're happy to help add it more places for you.

That sounds perfect. Was not sure of the best place to post this.

See this as a potential oppurtunity of the type of thing that Joe Saladin talks about of pairing parties of those who have time/energy with those that have money/land to benefit both parties.

Yes, layering opportunities on the property like Joel Salatin is what we're trying to do, too - smart!

It's now added to those other two forums. I hope that gets you lots more views!

Thanks for listening to the podcasts! Good luck!!
