I want to express something about a sensitive issue.
I think there are lots of people that have a terrible case of damn nasty pet stink going on in their home. They probably noticed it when the stink started. But their senses for that particular stink got less and less over time. To the point that the stink got 20 times worse and they don't notice it at all!
If you want to tell a friend about their pet stink, they might think you are exaggerating and rude.
And ... if a friend tells you about pet stink, you might think them to be exaggerating and rude.
So .... I just wanted to express this in the hopes that if any of us were to have a problem that we could not detect along these lines, we should be grateful to the messenger and beg for their help in borrowing their olfactory senses to resolve this problem!
I would like to add that some people have house plant stink. moldy fungusy, fruit fly havens that can trigger problems in the even the most non-allergic folk. Those african violets really will be OK if they dry out for a bit ....I promise.
people can and do become immune to the animal smell. I just visited a woman and it turns out she hoards animals. 40- ish cats and 15- ish dogs in less than 1000 sq foot house that she LIVES in. oh my. I couldn't breathe.
This weekend I heard that Effective Microorganisms (EM) can be used to eliminate pet stink. I think you can even purchase EM products for litter boxes, spraying directly on pets, and even adding to their water. There are some details regarding pet uses here: http://www.scdworld.net/category_s/10.htm.
